Kindergarten Field Trip

Well, the day has finally come...Kennedie's 1st field trip!!! She was so super excited, and even woke up before the alarm clock! (She was most excited about getting to ride a school bus- HA!) The kindergarten went to Country Critters Farm, a place that I've taken her since she was toddler. They have a petting zoo, hay rides, a maze, bounce houses...just tons of fun. After all the rain we've had lately, the best decision I've made lately...rain boots for the both of us! Mud was EVERYWHERE!!!

Pumpkin Patch Fun

We ventured out to our favorite pumpkin patch on Saturday, the 1st sunny, not raining day in October so far. I figured that since we were going shortly after they opened and since it was right after kickoff of the Texas OU game...MAYBE the crowd wouldn't be too terrible.

WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure that every.single.parent with a small child in the metroplex that knows about (or has ever even heard about) the greatness of the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch, was there.

Either way, the kids had a great time. Yes, there was still mud. Yes, every time the hay ride went around, the tractor got stuck in the mud. Yes, we brought home our share of mud...and stains. (Do I sound a little bitter? Yikes!)

Ok, I'm better! The kids really did have an incredible time! And, I did manage to get some great shots- so I'm thrilled!!! Here's some from our day...

Show Us Your Life...Embellished Overalls

Kelly over at Kelly's Korner has been doing a fabulous "Show Us Your Life" series each Friday. Today, it's all about showcasing moms who sell handmade things! I just happened to peek on Thursday night, and there are already 200 links!!! I can't wait to check them out.

So here's my handmade post. I make embellished holiday overalls. Here are a few pictures...they aren't the best, but I couldn't find them in a size 7/8 this year...so my daughter didn't get a pair this year =(

So I can do sizes from 6 months to a 5T for $65.

These are my own personal designs and each pair are made to order.

Will You & Sick Days

Eleven years ago today, James asked me to spend forever with him! He took me by complete surprise and I'll never forget that beautiful night on Joe T Garcia's patio. (I had to take a picture of a picture, since we didn't have a digital camera yet!)

Well, almost a week and a half after Colton, Kennedie came down with strept throat. So she's been home from school for the past two days. I saw this cute set of Halloween cuties and picked it up for us to do together. She loves doing these for all the different holidays!
And her school is having a contest, and as you can guess we picked photography...the theme was "beauty is..." After a fresh rain, our hibiscus bloomed, and I let Kennedie take this picture with my camera! Didn't she take a great picture?!?! I just held my hand underneath it to make sure she didn't drop it- ha!

Pumpkins...and more Firemen!

The kids were super excited when I bought mini pumpkins the other day...they knew they were going to get to paint them!!! We've been doing this for a few years now and they look forward to it each Halloween. Here's my girl, concentrating on her masterpiece...

Kennedie's school was learning about community helpers this week, so James went to talk to all of the kindergarteners this morning. He did such an awesome job! Colton even sat with Kennedie and her class and listened to the entire thing...so fun!

Here they are in her classroom afterwards. Her class got to ask a few more questions. James would point to the kids with their hands up, and Colton would point at them too...it was SOOO cute!!!!

A Few More...

Ok, this WILL be the last post without pictures of the precious kiddos! ;)

I was working on putting cd's together for James' guys and had to edit a few. I'm having so much fun with this program, now that I have a CLUE what I'm doing!!! So here's a few of the pics of the challenge...these are the ones from day 2, when he competed with his team. They did awesome and even qualified for nationals!! They'll be competing again over Halloween weekend in Arlington. Way to go guys!!

Firefighter Challenge

The weekend before last, we took a 3 day weekend trip to Tyler to the annual Firefighter Combat Challenge. It's considered the toughest 2 minutes in sports...and you're about to see why! It's an obstacle course that's completed in full bunker, high rise pack...the works!

And here's my man...all set to go!

He's on the right, the red side...and was WAY ahead of the blue guy the entire time! Way to go baby!!! Breathing with a tank on, they have to climb a 5 story tower, pull a donut roll up to the top, go back down the stairs, swing a sledgehammer at a kaiser sled, then they take off to zig and zag between taller obstacles. Then they grab a hose, pull it over their shoulder, through a door, turn the hose on, and have to aim for a small hole that makes another door fall, turn the hose off, and run over to grab a 175lb dummy. Then drag it to the finish line...(whew! what a run on...sorry!)

That's just an amazing time!!! So proud of you baby!

**AND, he was near the end, which means he didn't get to go when the sun was shining and the light was PERFECT! So, I had to shoot in manual mode, and I was freaking out...and so many of my pictures were blurry and I was so unhappy with them =( but maybe next year he'll get to go earlier...that, or I'll know my camera a little better =)
