edits & cafeteria tables

Bring on the picture posts! Baby Canon is back home and it's greatness! And I've been playing with my photo editing program that I bought over a year ago. It all seemed really overwhelming and everytime that I'd pull out the manual and try to read over how to do something specific, I'd get really frustrated and give up. Well, since I've been working on my kitchen wall...I had this cool idea to mount some pictures on some wrapped canvas, so I went searching for some old favorite pictures...and came across this one. But I couldn't find the digital print, only one I had printed off of my home printer (not so good quality) and framed it in Colton's room. So I played around with it and it's now proudly displayed on a cool looking canvas (if I do say so myself)!
And on a side (funny) note...Kennedie and I were talking about this belly picture and I'm not sure if Colton has actually seen a pregnant belly or has had one pointed out to him. So Kennedie was trying to explain to him that that is him in mommy's tummy. He just kept saying, "Mommy's tummy...Mommy's hungry!" Guess it looks that way, huh?
Then, Kennedie got to have her sweet friend Kylee over after Vacation Bible School today and I snapped this one of them....fun girls!
Colton missed his nap with all the excitement going on at the house today, so by about 4:30 he concked out on the living room floor. He looked so sweet that I just HAD to snap this one. He still looks just like I remember him as a newborn when he sleeps. That precious, innocent face. I bought his nap mat for Mother's Day Out this week...and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I've been buying Kennedie's school supplies here and there. I bought her new lunch box yesterday. I went to a Homeowner's Association Meeting in the cafeteria of her school tonight. I sat there at that little cafeteria table and all I could think was how big that little table was going to seem to my baby girl in just 4 short weeks. Can this really be happening? Can she really be ready for Kindergarten? Or should I be asking AM I READY FOR KINDERGARTEN?
sigh

Not Feeling the Brotherly Love

So, most of you have heard me joke about my 3rd child, Canon...my amazing digital camera! Well, he got very sick a few weeks ago and I had to send him off to California and the sweet FedEx man returned him to me this morning! What a sweet, sweet reunion!! Kennedie gets so annoyed when I refer to her other baby brother, Canon! So, when I finally put the lenses on, batteries in and started snapping, she walked up to me with this...
Of course I snapped her picture, not knowing what she was holding. Can you read it? It says,
"IT'S JUST A CAMERA"
Ugh, that girl! She's so her father's child!!
So stay tuned for many more new pictures! I am so very very happy to have my Canon back!

Wall Mini Makeover

We have this wall in our house...and it's been a bit of a decorating nightmare for me. Basically, it reaches from the back door to the front door, with no sort of break in between. And I refuse to paint a wall that big!! Here's the spot that is right next to our dining room, and this is what I put up after Colton was born. I was happy with it then, but now that he's 2 and doesn't look like that anymore...I'm ready for something new. I'm bored with this look! And since James was gone for 2 weeks, I felt like I had creative freedom (with zero opinions! ha!) to do whatever I pleased. So here's a look at the before...
And the after...(I'm still planning on adding some more pictures...just waiting on my sweet Canon to return home...sigh)
I put these 2 frames side by side to show you the difference...I painted the black ones I had up on the wall...GREEN! I'm really happy with the way they turned out! I only did 2 so far, and I only need a few, but I think they look really cool!
We also are working on a mini makeover in Kennedie's Kindergartener room..so stay tuned for pictures! It's almost done!

Memory Lane

Last week was a very sad week for me...my new camera became very sick...and I had to send him away to be fixed! So I've been without him for 8 days and counting. And on top of that, James has my laptop with all of my latest pictures on it, so I've found myself looking back at old pictures (not a bad thing) and editing some! Here's a cute one from right before James left from CA to go to Iraq. We flew out to see him. Colton was 3 months old, Kennedie was 3 1/2 years old. This one was in our hotel...so cute!
This is HANDS DOWN one of my all time favs! I had it put on to a canvas and it sits on top of my fridge. This was taken with my point and shoot...and there is zero editing done to this picture!!! AND, I was even wearing Colton on my front carrier!!! =)
Precious babies!!
So, there's my little Monday morning trip down memory lane...sigh...

Beatin the Heat with a Little Paint

Since it's been so very hot lately, and we spend most of our days at the water park, I've tried to get a little creative with how to spend our days. We're pretty limited on what we can do, since it's 90+ degrees by 9am and the sun doesn't go down until after 9pm (bedtime). So we went to one of our favorite little ceramic paint places this week. I've taken Kennedie there since before she was 2 and she's always loved it! This was Colton's 1st visit and he did great. It didn't quite hold his attention like it did sister's, but luckily, they have a small play area with a tv!
Here's Kennedie's creation...
And Colton's that I turned into a magnet for my fridge...(both piecese were only about 4 inches tall...we were looking for a quick trip there because it was before nap and lunch!)
The VERY serious artist!
...But he wasn't too thrilled about a mess on his hands! (JUST like his sister!)
Sweet, sweet girl

My Little Comedian

Kennedie has always loved jokes, but just recently Colton has started to try his hand at knock knock jokes. It is too funny! This isn't his best work by any means, but it was the best I could get. He thinks the "apple juice" part is hilarious, so we humor him. I was really having to coax him here...maybe I can get a better one in the near future, but for now...here you are...my littlest comedian!!!

Fun & Festive 4th

Yes, I'm a bit behind! Here are our pictures from the 4th! We woke up that morning and went to the awesome Fourth of July Parade in Downtown Arlington with James' parents. We were lucky enough to find a much sought after spot on the good side of the street, and James even backed the Tahoe up to the curb, making for even more shade! There was even a little shade...perfect!
Nothing like fruit snacks at 9am!
So precious!

Waving at the Grand Marshall...Mr. Nolan Ryan!!!
Love this sweet picture of my girl (notice the construction in the background...for the new Cowboys stadium and surrounding areas).
My favorite part of the parade each year! The Elvii on mini bikes! Too funny!

And we got the perfect spot (minus the pesky Texas ants) for fireworks!
The pictures don't have the best colors...still trying to figure out the settings on my camera for night pictures, etc.
Here's James playing with the kid's glow sticks.
My little man!

Love this guy!!!
Such a fun day!!!
She just wanted to be in his lap...all day! And it was so HOT...but he did not seem to mind...not one bit! So very sweet!!!

Puerto Vallarta

Last Friday afternoon, we boarded a plane with some of James' family to
PUERTO VALLARTA!!!
We were there for 4 days, with his parents, brother John and girlfriend, and brother Chuck and his wife Holli. We left all the kids at home and it was nice to be able to relax, and it was so very nice to be reunited with our sweet babies when we returned home!
Thanks for a wonderful trip!!! We had a great time and have wonderful memories!
Amazing sand sculptures
Margarita + Sunset = Perfection....aaahhh

I thought these were the neatest looking balloons!
We ate breakfast at this great little spot on the beach on our 1st morning...our feet in the sand...mimosas in hand...wonderful food...a girl could get used to this!
This was what my breakfast looked like!
My handsome hubby!
We bought Kennedie a little personalized bracelet from this guy. He stood in front of us and made it as we watched. It was great and she loves it! And it was only $5!
The Davis Men! (Brian, James, John, Chuck)
The boys participated in a fishing contest. I love this picture!
