Stock Show & Rodeo

We had such a fun day at the Stock Show and Rodeo on Friday! The weather was absolutely gorgeous!! And I was thinking about how nice it was to not have to drag a stroller, diaper bag, find a changing station to change diapers, pack a heap of snacks and sippy cups...we are finally at a new stage of life...fun, but a little sad too.
Here's my almost 4 year old! So stinkin handsome in his cowboy boots!
Looking at all the cute little animals. The favorites were the alpacas and the kids, lol!
My boys had to go up and check out a cool motorcycle...look at that face!
This part of the rodeo is always so fun to watch! A bunch of high school kids chase around a bunch of calfs. They have to tie them up and drag them into the chalk lined square. The top 5 win money and the rest get new boots.
Yum-o!!
These guys are amazing! One of them even had surgery ONE WEEK AGO! Crazy!
The best seat in the house...Granny's lap of course!
Kennedie was really looking forward to the bulls so that she could see the clowns! Talk about crazy!!
We walked through and looked at the bunnies...we saw a few TWENTY FIVE POUND bunnies!!!
And finally, we had some GORGEOUS seventy degree weather today. We spent the afternoon in the backyard playing. We just signed Colton up for spring tee ball, so we let him practice hitting with a helmet on...so cute! Silly boy!

Bday Post, Part II

Since James' birthday fell during the week, we decided to have a little party at our house on Saturday with my parents and sister and brother-in-law.
(The expressions in this post are HILARIOUS!!)
Here's present time...the kids both made cards for Daddy. Colton's usually have stick figures...and dark blue crayon. When I asked him to draw something else, he draw a huge circle over the daddy he had drawn. When I asked him about it, he said it's his thinking bubble! Smarty!
Kennedie got a little embarassed when he read her card, silly girl!
These are the 2 best present opener helpers ever! This cracks me up! Here they are pulling a shoebox out of the gift bag....
...then Colton just walks away from Daddy and opens the shoes on his own...HA!!!
(Again with the faces, lol! It's a tough job to surprise James. I think I got him with the new electric smoker!
Then Colton jumped right in to "read" his new smoker cookbook! What a ham!
High five! Thanks for your present help, bud!
I was trying to get a cute candid pic of Apple & Kyle...but his eyes pretty much disappeared in the shadow of his hat! And silly Apple!
And here's Granny & Poppa's candid...aren't they cute?!
Tomorrow is their 36th wedding anniversary!
We love you guys!

Happy Birthday, James!

Today is my James' birthday! We're doing a small family party this weekend, but we wanted to do a little something with the kids tonight. This was my attempt at a family picture ON OUR NEW COUCHES!!! Don't you just love the way Colton posed himself?!
Kennedie had been eyeing this light bulb box that has been in the kitchen for a few days now. Well, James finally emptied it and gave it to her today. She quickly filled it with little "gifts" just for him. Sweet girl.
They were so excited to help him open gifts!
Wow! A box from Justice?! Lucky Daddy!
Staples for his new staple gun...
He wanted carrot cake, so I attempted a new Paula Deen recipe...um, YUM-O!!!!
Happy Birthday, babe!
We love you!

Christmas Catch-Up

Whoa, bad, bad blogger! I feel like the past few months have been such a whirlwind! We had Kennedie's 7th birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, holiday break...whew! I'm going to spread out the posts a little...
Here's my girl at her school Christmas party. I love watching her around all of her little friends and her awesome teacher.
Her class played a Christmas version of pin the tail on the donkey. She made them spin crazy, was picking them up...made it so much fun!
Here's the BFF's! Jessalyn & Kennedie
Then we ALL spent the night at my mom and dad's on Christmas Eve. It was so neat because all 3 of us have husbands now! (James was on shift, but surprised us by coming home early Christmas morning.) Speaking of Christmas surprises...Colton spiked a super high (super scary) fever the morning of Christmas Eve. Luckily, our pediatrician was open a half day and saw him right away. He ended up testing positive for strept AND the flu!!! Poor baby! And we think Kennedie actually started out with the flu and passed it on to Kennedie...so she was too far in to it to be treated...you have to have the meds 48 hours into it to do any good. Luckily, this was a high fever, achy flu and not the vomiting flu...whew!
So, with the wonders that are Motrin...we had a wonderful Christmas morning!
LeDoux even got a cute squirrel tree toy...Colton helped him check it out.
A remote control truck...COOL!
Apple loves Brett Favre & the Vikings...
One of the biggest hits of the morning were the velcro Nerf guns...complete with protective eye wear and chest pads, lol! Look at him peeking out from behind the tree! Ha!
Kennedie has all of her gear on! Look at Kevin peeking out from behind the couch...ha!
Poppa even got in on the war!
And he got attacked!
Crazy girl!
