One and a Half!

Today marks my sweet baby's 18 month "birthday." Can that possibly be?? Can we have a one and a half year old?! I have this picture framed by my bathtub. I look at it often...look at the joy in Kennedie's face! She captured everything I was feeling on that day in her sweet little, 3 1/2 year old face. She is such an amazing big sister. She loves her baby brother so much. She is so patient, loving, kind. My love for these two is unimaginable, and I'm amazed everyday at how much my heart, love, grows for these sweet babies. The day my Colton was born was so perfect. I felt like the happiest Mommy and Wife on the planet. I know that I am so very blessed and loved. Just look at her sweet face...she's saying exactly what I am thinking.

Singing in the rain!

Kennedie LOVES her pink umbrella, and with all of this Texas heat, it doesn't get much use. We had such a steady rain over the weekend...it was a perfect opportunity! She was super excited to get to play outside in the rain. Check out this cute video. Doesn't it make you want to be 4 1/2 again?

Giggle til it hurts!

**SORRY! I just realized that once I posted this video, it came up super dark. It didn't look this way when I downloaded it...promise! Just keep watching- it's worth it just to hear the giggles! This was just too fun to not share! My cheeks hurt so bad after watching this!!!

1st day of Pre-K

I just realized that I didn't post a picture of K's 1st day of school...from last week. Here she is in front of the pretty fountain at school. She struck this pose all on her own! =)

Firefighter Combat Challenge

Last weekend, James competed in the Firefighter Combat Challenge in Tyler. It's like an obstacle course for firemen. So we made it into a mini-visit with James' brothers and Kennedie and Colton's cousins.

James competed in an individual run as a Fort Worth fireman on Friday night, then in a tandem on Saturday, as Marine Corps fireman with another Marine in his unit. He had great times on both days and we had a great time watching him! I'll try to post a video, once I can figure out how to edit it...

Here's a few pictures from the weekend! (The one of C in the stroller, with Daddy and K just after the race...did you notice how they are all 3 making the exact same face?! LOL)

Labor Day fishing

James had some vacation time over Labor Day and has been trying to plan something fun to do with the kids...something they'll remember. So we called me parents early Sunday morning and made plans to take the kids fishing. Kennedie was super excited! James even took her in the backyard and they dug up their own worms! Of course, K named them. There was a King and Queen Sarah. (She really cracks me up with the names she comes up with...Breeka, Capri Sun, Curly (the dolphin!), Rebecca-more names on another post.) So, we met Granny and Poppa at the lake and Kennedie caught the very first fish! Here she is, right before it wiggled, and she screamed...loudly! She was so very proud of that 4 inch long fish! (I made some time to play around on my photo editor that I bought while James was gone...I really like the way they came out!) She informed us that she is a fisherGIRL, not a fisherman. Here's Colton, fishing for the first time with Poppa. He caught a baby fish, too! He didn't hesitate to grab a hold of it, and it kept slipping right out of his little hands! My sides hurt from laughing so hard.

There were ducks all over the place. Luckily Granny grabbed some food from her pantry on the way out the door. Colton snacked on a little, then shared the rest with the ducks. He also did this little squat, with his hands back and to his sides, and made his own little duck call...too cute!
Anyone seen a hairdo like this on a duck before? K thought it was so funny, especially when we joked about Mommy giving him a haircut with her clippers, just like the boys!

Speaking of strange...look at this creature! We had a few guesses as to what, exactly, it was...anyone know?

And finally, last but definitely not least, James' big promotion is effective today, September 1st. He was promoted from Staff Sergeant to Gunnery Sergeant, or Gunny! Congrats Gunny Davis! We are so proud of you!!!

Oh really?!

Last night James tucked Kennedie into bed, and came out laughing. He motioned for me to come in there with him, then said, "Kennedie, how old is Mommy?"
"30" she says.
"And how old is Daddy?"
"19!"

I'm going to have to have a talk with her. I can just see her repeating that at school...'my Mommy is 30 and my Daddy is 19"

Oh boy!
