Marine Corps Ball

We went to our 11th Marine Corps Ball on November 15th (well, technically James went to one of those alone...Kennedie was just 2 days old in 2003, so he went solo that year) and had a great time! We didn't get as many pictures as I'd like, but once people email me theirs, I'll post some more. Here's a few from the night...

Holiday Magic

Kennedie danced at Holiday Magic last weekend. She was super cute and did a great job! Here's a peak!

Fall Pics

The picture people came to K's school a few weeks ago and they said I could bring C to be in the pics with her, so I jumped right on that! They came out pretty good! K had terrible allergies that day, so the ones of her alone weren't so great. Her eyes were so red and puffy...poor girl! They look so big in this picture! Sweet babies!

Happy 5th Birthday Kennedie!

My sweet Kennedie,
It seems like just yesterday that you were placed into my arms for the very first time and our eyes met...it was love at first sight! We watched the video of your birth day tonight, and I always love watching the way your newborn cry was instantly soothed the moment you first heard my voice from across the room (when they were cleaning you and weighing you). You have grown into such a beautiful little girl. You are beautiful inside and out and I cannot wait to see how you grow over the next 5 years. You make me such a happy Mommy and I couldn't imagine a better big sister for our Colton. You are so patient and kind to him and he loves you so much. I'm so glad that you had so much fun on our special day together...and that Daddy was here with us this year! We love you baby girl!
Happy Birthday!

Halloween Pics

This year, Kennedie dressed up like Giselle from the movie Enchanted. She was beautiful! Here she is putting on some lip gloss...she looks so grown up...it about broke her Daddy's heart to see this!

Colton dressed up like a cute little Count! Each time I tried his costume on him, he'd get so angry about the cape...until the day of Halloween! Then he didn't mind it one bit...thank goodness!

We stopped off at a local pumpkin patch for some last minute pictures in our cute costumes.

Notice the crooked tiara...lol!

Oh, what a little diva!

Loving herself in the mirror! HAHA!

Her and her BFF Brookelyn (aka- Hanna Montana)

Just loved the way he was standing in this one...too precious for words.

Pride

I'm sitting here tonight, with a great sense of pride within me. Today is the Marine Corps Birthday- a pretty important day in our house. James actually just left, all dressed up in his dress blues, to go meet up with some fellow Marines for some birthday drinks downtown (an annual tradition). It's also the 37th anniversary of my dad joining the United States Navy back in 1971. Tomorrow is Veteran's Day, 11-11. We will pick back up with our annual tradition of going to the downtown Fort Worth parade in the morning. We missed it last year...it was just too hard to go with James in Iraq. I'm even taking Kennedie out of school for the day. It's that important to me. I want her to see her Daddy and her Poppa, both Veterans, together. I want her to see the looks in the people's faces. The sense of pride. I want her to get goosebumps the way that I do everytime a band passes by, playing the National Anthem, God Bless America, the Marine Corps Hymn or Anchors Away. I want her to see the little old men wearing their Vietnam hats with pride. I want her to see the people stopping her Daddy because he'll be wearing a shirt that says "Marines" on it, and judging by his hair cut, they'll know he is one, just to shake his hand and say "thank you."
Tomorrow is a very important day in our house. I want my children to grow up with that sense of pride...for their Daddy, their Poppa, their Grandpa, their great Grandfathers...ALL who proudly served this great nation. It is because of these brave heroes that we have the freedoms we do today and that we are allowed to voice our opinions so freely. No matter what your feelings may be on this recent election, there is a reason you are allowed to expression the opinions you possess. That reason is the Veteran's of the United States of America. Have you EVER thanked one?
